Redcliffe’s Kayo Stadium is almost unrecognisable after being transformed to host the season opener of the Australian Supercross.
The championship returns to Queensland after a five-year hiatus.
Work began on Wednesday, when trucks started delivering about 6000 tonnes of dirt to the venue.
The dirt has since been crafted into race tracks, which will challenge Australia’s best riders in rounds one and two of the championship to be held on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 respectively.

Supercross fans are revved up for the return of a legend, with two-time SX World Champion Chad Reed taking on the event’s ambassador role.
His son, Tate, will compete for a podium spot in the 85cc class on Saturday, named in honour of his father.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery is excited to see Kayo Stadium, usually the home of rugby league, hosting the event.
"It shows the diversity that this stadium can hold these kinds of events and draw the crowds that are coming here this weekend," he says.
Visit Moreton Bay CEO Natassia Wheeler says about 20,000 people are expected to attend the AUSX Supercross Championship.
“Around 40 per cent of these spectators are coming from outside the (Moreton Bay) region in addition to the riders and their families,” Natassia says.
“Whilst here, we encourage them to follow the Reed family’s example by taking time out to explore our waterways, sandy beaches, national parks and enjoy some fresh seafood.
“It’s incredible to see Kayo Stadium transformed into dirt tracks, where international stars and homegrown heroes will stun crowds. It’s a great day out for families and adventure seekers alike.
“We thank and congratulate the City of Moreton Bay for their continued commitment and vision of bringing events to the region which in turn provide a positive boost for local tourism businesses.”
Speaking about his role as the event’s ambassador, Chad Reed says it is a highlight to return to Australia to open the season in Redcliffe, where his son Tate will make his Queensland debut.
“This weekend’s event is really significant for our family as we have returned to Australia from the US for Tate’s first race in Queensland at the season opener at Kayo Stadium,” Chad says.
“While here, we’ve enjoyed making new memories with an epic day out yesterday exploring Bribie Island by boat, jet ski, and helicopter. It’s great to be back on home soil with the family and to be a mentor and ambassador for Australian Supercross.”
During the two days, defending champion Dean Wilson will face off against international competitors, including Joey Savatgy and Aaron Tanti, delivering high-octane action on the track.
Australian stars Matt Moss and Luke Clout will represent local talent, vying for glory on home soil.
The event will be broadcast in Australia via Kayo. Some tickets are still available for Sunday, October 13 via Ticketek.
