Star chef to plate up degustation dinner
Published 2:18pm 19 June 2024
If dining on a five-star meal prepared by a celebrity chef is on your culinary bucket list, Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival can make your dream a reality.
The festival, which is Queensland’s biggest foodie celebration, is on August 23-25 at Woody Point’s Apex Park.
Renowned chef Matt Golinski will host two exquisite four-course degustation dinners (one on Friday night, the other on Saturday) at the festival’s The Lodge zone for a number of lucky guests to indulge in.
While he is keeping the menu under wraps for now, you can guarantee each dish will be a culinary masterpiece and feature an array of fresh produce from amazing vendors.
“I will be trying to get as many local producers as I can into each and every dish to show off the flavours of Moreton Bay,” Matt says.
“It’s my job as a chef to share the stories of the producers who work really hard to grow things for us to eat.”
The meal will be paired with a selection of award-winning wines from Robert Oatley Wines, who is a major sponsor of this year’s festival.
Their trio of labels include the maritime-influenced Signature Series, the specific vineyard focused Finisterre, and the best of the best barrels under The Pennant.
Robert Oatley Wines was founded as a family winery in 2006 by the late Robert (Bob) Oatley AO BEM, who was a proud and passionate fifth-generation Aussie who took Australian wine to the world.
Bob established the now famous Hunter Valley-based Rosemount Estate, producing his first commercial vintages in the early 1970s.
During the ensuing three decades, his wines developed an impressive pedigree – gracing the world’s best wine lists and winning many of the highest accolades, while consistently topping sales in Australia, the UK and USA.
In 2014, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the Australia Day Honours.
