Moreton Bay Region SES crews received almost 50 requests for help after yesterday’s storms.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the requests related to leaking roofs and appeals for sandbags.

Preparation the key

On Monday, Mayor Peter Flannery said it was crucial residents heeded weather warnings and took the time to prepare their properties.

“We launched ‘Get Ready Week’ earlier this month so if you haven’t already made a plan for your property and family - do that now,” he says.

The Bureau’s official weather station at Redcliffe recorded 29.2mm between 9am and midnight yesterday, but residents across Moreton Bay took to social media to say they were experiencing heavy rain.

Rain hits Burpengary

Carrie Birtwistle, from Burpengary East says her home was “getting absolutely drowned”.

“Pergola is flooding, the shed probably is too, think we’re going to need a council permit for a new swimming pool or two,” Carrie posted.

Sharlene Dows, also from Burpengary East, reports her rain gauge in Uhlmann Rd had recorded 110mm of rain.

Automatic equipment from the Bureau shows Riversleigh Rd at Beachmere has 101mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am today, Machinery Pde at Caboolture had 88mm and Toorbul had 100mm.
