Try a Trade these school holidays
Published 1:00pm 7 September 2023

Australian Trade College North Brisbane will host Try a Trade and Chef by Trade events at its Scarborough campus during the September school holidays.
The Try a Trade and Chef by Trade Day events are fun and provide young people with an opportunity to discover first-hand what it’s like in a workshop and to get ‘hands-on’ in a range of different trade areas.
The events will be held on Thursday, September 28, with the day running from 9am-3pm. Registration is at 8.30am in the College Hall.
The Try a Trade and Chef by Trade events are open to young people aged 14-17 years.
They range in price from $20 to $50 and cover all materials, eye and ear protection and lunch.
Some programs require participants to wear their own steel-capped safety boots.
All of the college’s trade programs are available at each event:
- Hairdressing and Barbering
- Construction
- Electrotechnology
- Plumbing
- Automotive
- Metal Engineering / Fabrication
- Health Care
- Early Childhood
- Information Technology
Registration is essential. Payment must be made at the time of registration.
Feedback from previous events has shown participants enjoyed the hands-on experience, being treated like a young adult, and seeing what learning a trade looked like.
Chef By Trade
The Chef By Trade Holiday Cooking School is open to anyone aged 14 to 17 years with a passion for food. The college’s chefs will guide students through a variety of savoury and sweet dishes. Students will enjoy lunch together devouring the dishes they prepared on the day.
