Redcliffe will come alive next month with a pop-up performance by Moreton Bay’s first Bee Gees kazoo flash mob.
Everyone from experienced kazoo players to those wanting to try something new, can make Night Fever history at Bee Gees Way on Sunday June 21 at 9.30am.
The event coincides with the internationally celebrated Make Music Day, where free live music is performed in public places across 120 countries.
“Council established Bee Gees Way along the Redcliffe foreshore in 2013 to give residents and tourists the chance to take a trip down memory lane with one of the world’s biggest musical groups,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.
“Now, every member of the community is invited to come and make history as we host Moreton Bay’s first Bee Gees kazoo flash mob.”
To help get flash mob ready, kazoo workshops are being held:
• Saturday June 6: 11.30am-1.30pm at Albany Creek Library
• Tuesday June 9: 5.30-7.30pm at Strathpine Library
• Saturday June 13: 11am-12.30pm at Burpengary Library
• Friday June 19: 5-7pm at Redcliffe Library
• Saturday June 20: 10.30am-12.30pm at Caboolture Regional Art Gallery
• Saturday 20 June: 1-2.30pm at Bribie Island Seaside Museum
“The kazoo is often called the people’s instrument, because you don’t need to be a pro to get the hang of it and produce recognisable tunes,” workshop facilitator and music educator Danny Smith said
“We’ll be covering kazoo basics before learning a medley of Bee Gees songs. Participants can bring their own kazoo, but we’ll have some on a first come, first serve basis as well.”
