“Unique” chance to play Undersea
The first stage of a new multi-million-dollar entertainment venue Undersea Putt and Play has opened at the Blue Water Square Shopping Centre in Redcliffe today.
There are more than 30 games and amusements in stage one of the centre, just behind Redcliffe Pde on the corner of Sutton St and Anzac Ave.
Stage 2 will feature 18 holes of themed mini golf and is set to open in the middle of next month.
UnderSea Putt and Play has launched with a small team of staff, but that will grow when mini golf opens, says Jason Cravino, Leasing and Special Projects Manager for venue owner Elanor Investors Group.
Untapped tourism
Mr Cravino says Elanor bought the Redcliffe site in 2018 because it sees Redcliffe as an untapped tourism destination.
The idea for the UnderSea Putt and Play entertainment centre was then developed with the venue operator and will be a first in this region.
“This is a one-off. It will be unique. Iconic,” Mr Cravino says, “it is a multi-million project which will not be replicated elsewhere.”
Visitors will enter through the jaws of a Dunkleosteus, a terrifying fish from the Devonian period, which lived around 350 million years ago and grew to eight metres in length.
Arcade games
A multitude of arcade games await visitors now. When mini golf opens, players will take a journey underwater with terrifying creatures, sharks, a giant squid, sperm whale, mermaids and pirates.
Visitors will putt over the ocean floor discovering ancient fossilised prehistoric fish, great white sharks, crocodiles and whirlpools.
The wreck of HMS Bark Endeavour also awaits with a black light cave, 3D art murals and educational elements.
UnderSea Putt and Play will open seven days a week from 10am until late with a bar, dining and food areas and rooms for parties.
