Work starts on new $14m splash park

Construction is officially underway on a new $14 million Centenary Lakes Regional Playground and Splash Park at Caboolture.

It is City of Moreton Bay’s largest play space project in six years and is expected to open in mid-2027, weather permitting.

The $14 million facility will include play structures, sensory trails, splash pad with water play, accessible pathways and public amenities with wheelchair lockers.

Existing picnic areas, barbecues and dog off-leash areas will be upgraded and new parking provided – creating a vibrant, inclusive space for everyone to enjoy.

“We asked the community how they would like to see the Centenary Lakes precinct redeveloped and a water play area topped the list,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“Residents also said they wanted new inclusive playgrounds that can be enjoyed by all.

“This is a significant community project. It will be a family favourite for locals but will also draw visitors from across the City of Moreton Bay and beyond.”

Australian and Queensland Governments are providing $5,137,102 via the SEQ City Deal Liveability Fund; Federal Government $3m from its Investing In Our Communities fund and City of Moreton Bay $5,862,898.

Senator Corinne Mulholland represented Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King at the sod turning.

"This is a big investment in Caboolture and one that local families have long called for, so I’m thrilled they’ll soon have a world-class splash park and playground right here at Centenary Lakes,” Senator Mulholland said.

“This is about making sure Caboolture kids and their families have world-class play facilities in the heart of this growing community.

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said: Kids absolutely love splash parks! My kids are super excited.”

Councillor Adam Hain (Div 3) said: “We are planning ahead and delivering projects like this one, so we retain our enviable lifestyle as we grow.
