Work is expected to start this month on intersection upgrades ahead of construction of a new connecting road in Griffin.
Wattle Run Developments has reached agreement with Moreton Bay City Council to upgrade Brays Rd with a new connection - Arcadia Drive.
Hall Contracting has set-up a site office in preparation for the civil works which will upgrade part of Brays Rd, to accommodate growing traffic volumes.
The project will include:
- Upgrading a part of Brays Road in the vicinity of Freshwater Hub precinct to widen the road to four lanes.
- Adding a signalised intersection at the intersection with Cairns Road, with a new fourth leg into the new road, Arcadia Drive, forming a new connection between Brays Road and Wesley Road.
- Safety upgrades for pedestrians and cyclists, including wider paths, cycle lanes where possible, better connections, and safer crossings.
- Two new bus stops, one in each direction, with the eastbound stop having direct pedestrian access to the Freshwater Hub precinct.
Access to Brays Road and connecting roads will be maintained throughout the project with traffic management in place.
“Our team will start widening the northern verge of Brays Rd in January 2025 and we appreciate motorists’ patience as we undertake these important works,” Cameron Hall, CEO and Director of Hall Contracting, said.
“The project will improve traffic flow and provide easy access to the Freshwater Village shopping centre.”
Wattle Run encourages road users to subscribe to the Freshwater Hub enewsletter and follow us on social media to keep informed on changes to traffic conditions.
This will allow road users to plan their commutes and allow extra time to arrive at their intended destination.
