Zonta Clubs of Brisbane including the Redcliffe Peninsula will be “painting the region orange” in the lead-up to and during the 16 Days of Activism from November 25.

The campaign begins on the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and runs until December 10, the United Nations Day for Human Rights, to highlight the impact of domestic and family violence on women and children and the economy.

Zonta Club of Redcliffe Inc. spokeswoman June Teller says: “Our campaign is part of a worldwide drive by Zonta Clubs to raise awareness of the issues and effects on our community.

“Activities include the placement of our orange wooden cut-outs of women in prominent locations around our area together with information about our club, our Safety Cards listing emergency contact numbers for people experiencing domestic and family violence, the orange lighting of landmarks by City of Moreton Bay Council, a social media campaign and the hanging of banners in prominent locations. Council libraries are hosting displays.”

Zonta Club of Redcliffe Inc. is holding its annual Orange Breakfast on November 26, with guest speakers addressing the topic and speaking about services and actions being taken to help victims of violence.

The event will be held at The Komo from 6.30am for a 7am start. The event will finish by 9am.

Tickets are $45 and include a cooked alternate drop breakfast, fruit juice, fruit platter and tea/coffee station.

Guest speakers will be Gold Coast Young Australian of the Year 2024 and Founder and CEO of Letters of Hope Abbie Williams and family trauma survivor Rhonda Armstead.

RSVP by November 20. To book your seat, visit https://www.trybooking.com/1301484.
