About Chameleon Housing

Chameleon Housing is a Specialist Homelessness Service supporting young people and families aged 16–25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Our mission is to provide a safe home, care, and living skills program for young people and young families who are homeless.

Our strength based approach allows us to walk alongside clients and support them to access the services and support they require and achieve their goals.

More than a house

The transition to adulthood is hard enough - without a roof over your head it’s almost impossible. So Chameleon Housing offers more than just a house, we offer a structured program that provides a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn essential life skills, build confidence, and develop the tools they need for independence.

We provide a home, along with tailored support, to guide each young person as they navigate their path toward independence and beyond.

Programs

  • Accommodation and Support for Young People: Safe and affordable crisis and short term accommodation to help young people find their way. We support and encourage young people to identify and reach their goals through case management and reliance building.
  • Transitional Housing for Young Parents: Housing for young parenting families to give them a home and keep them and their children safe while they learn the skills they need for independence. Young parents are supported to learn living skills such as cooking, budgeting, running a household. Additionally, being supported to identify goals and ways to reach those goals. Families are supported by being given a realistic housing experience and supporting them to enter the private rental market and onto the next stage in their lives.
  • I CaN HOPe: Ante and post natal care, parenting and accommodation and support for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander families.
