All Star Boxing opens new Academy gym at showgrounds

All Star Boxing Academy has a new home where owner Ben Harrington hopes fighters will “write their own history”.

The academy is now at Pine Rivers Showgrounds, on Gympie Rd, Lawnton, having moved 2.5kms from Pine Rivers PCYC.

It was a “big move” for the academy, said Harrington, adding “everything is great” at the gym which caters for everyone - juniors, amateurs and professionals.

Good location

“We’ve moved up the road (Francis Rd),” the owner and head coach said.

“It’s a good location with road frontage, road signage and where we hope kids will write their own history.”

All Star Boxing Academy has a main ring and up to 14 boxing bags as well all the additional training aids and equipment for those from the age of five upwards.

There are more than 60 in the academy’s Pee Wee section (ages 5-10) who train on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3.45-4.30pm.

Stable of fighters

Programs are also run for fitness and those in teenage years on how to train, compete and reach elite levels through the amateur ranks.

All Star Boxing has an impressive stable of professional fighters and long list of title holders.

They include Liam Wilson, one of Australia’s leading super featherweights and Vegas Larfield, a rising star of the bantamweight division who won in Las Vegas last year.

Also, lightweight Miles Zalewski, whose stunning knockout of Lee Fook in July made the national headlines.

Fight Night

All Star Boxing Academy has its Fight Night on October 23 at North Leagues and Services Club in Kallangur. Around 40 fights from 4pm onwards. Tickets available on the door.
