Can’t Help Falling in Love with Elvis movie
Published 5:00am 18 June 2022
Baz Luhrmann’s tribute to the late Elvis Presley opens in cinemas across the country and our region on June 23.
The Warner Bros. biographical musical drama, titled Elvis and directed by Luhrmann, was filmed on the Gold Coast where the red carpet Australian premiere was held earlier this month.
It stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley, The King of Rock ’n’ Roll, and Tom Hanks as manager Colonel Tom Parker. Scroll down for session times.
The film follows the life and career of the singer and actor from childhood to becoming a star on the stage and screen and explores his complex relationship with Colonel Parker.
It also stars Olivia DeJonge as Elvis’ wife Priscilla Presley.
Before the film’s world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley praised the film in an Instagram post after seeing it twice.
She said it was "nothing short of spectacular" and also praised Butler's performance as her late father.
"Austin Butler channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul beautifully. In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully," she posted.
