Energex has revealed the cause of three power outages on the Redcliffe Peninsula in the past month.
A spokesman says there have been three outages in the Woody Point area in the period from December 8 to January 8.
Each has been “possum-related”.
He says on December 8 and 10 the outages were cause by a possum on the overhead network and overnight on January 7/8 an outage was caused by a possum on a piece of underground equipment.
“While we wildlife proof our network were practicable and work with our equipment manufactures to install wildlife proofing in the manufacturing process, unfortunately possums in particular can be quite sneaky and find their way into sensitive parts of the network,” the spokesman says.
