The Comiskey Group, which has been based in this region for almost 50 years, had two huge wins at the Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
Eatons Hill Hotel, built and run by the family business, took out the Overall Hotel of the Year Metropolitan for 2022 and won the Best Outdoor/Non-Enclosed Facility.
It is the second time Eatons Hill Hotel has been awarded this title - the first being in 2012, just one year after opening its doors.
The prestigious Australian Hotel of the Year title also remains in the Comiskey Group family for a second successive year.
In 2021, the group’s Sandstone Point Hotel was awarded the national title – which has now been passed to Eatons Hill.
The Comiskey Group were finalists in a six categories with the , these included Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point Hotel and BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort:
– Best Entertainment Venue (Sandstone Point Hotel)
– Best Family Dining (Sandstone Point Hotel)
– Best Superior Accommodation (Eatons Hill Hotel)
– Best Mid-Range Accommodation (BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
“We were all very surprised to come home with the Overall Hotel of the Year award,” director Rob Comiskey said.
“Winning it for the second year in a row was an unbelievable result.
“I am so proud of my family, our management team and staff who certainly deserve this recognition for all their hard work, especially during these challenging times for our industry.
“Congratulations to all finalists and winners on the night, it was an honour to be surrounded by the industry’s greats.
“Thank you to the AHA, for putting on another incredible event! It was a memorable night.”
There were 249 nominees for the 45 categories of this years AHA awards.
The Comiskey Group has just opened a distillery at Eatons Hill and has plans for a hotel and shops in Dakabin, a hotel and recreation centre in Strathpine, the Aura Hotel and a new festival site on the Sunshine Coast.
