Dolphins team up with XXXX
Published 12:00pm 16 December 2021
Queensland’s newest professional sporting franchise has teamed up with one of the oldest and most iconic brands in the state.
A partnership between new NRL franchise the Dolphins and XXXX was announced today at the XXXX brewery in Milton, with Dolphins’ Head Coach Wayne Bennett in attendance.
XXXX has become the official beer of the Dolphins, who were admitted to the NRL competition in October.
XXXX Sales Director Patrick Donohue says the partnership with the Dolphins is another sign of the iconic beer’s unwavering support for Queensland and rugby league in the state.
“XXXX will enter its 144th year of brewing in Queensland in 2022, and it will do so as the official partner of the QRL, the Maroons, Queensland’s NRL teams and now the Dolphins – you can’t get more Queensland than that,” Donohue says.
“We are so excited to extend on our grassroots support for the game in Queensland, building a stronger community and more pathways for up-and-coming Queenslanders to play rugby league on the national stage.
“This partnership is truly historic, and I know for the Dolphins, it was a long time in the making. We are so proud to be hosting this momentous occasion at our iconic brewery today.”
Groundswell support
Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader says the new franchise is already attracting significant corporate support and joining with XXXX was a natural fit.
The deal will include activations across the state that will take place in 2022.
It also takes into account the Dolphins’ large footprint that includes the NRL franchise, Hostplus Cup entity the Redcliffe Dolphins, stadium rights at Moreton Daily Stadium and Suncorp Stadium, as well as XXXX’s long history with the Redcliffe Leagues Club.
“XXXX is one of the most significant icons in Queensland’s history with rugby league, so we are very pleased to be joining this partnership with them,” Reader says.
“Our goal at the Dolphins is to be associated with the best companies and brands in the country and XXXX certainly fits that mould.
“We were impressed with the support XXXX have offered us in our transition period, investing in the club’s NRL operation well over a year before we get the opportunity to kick a ball in the competition.
“We are excited about the future path we will chart together and the achievements this partnership will realise for both XXXX and the Dolphins.”
The Dolphins will become the 17th team in the NRL when they play their first match in March 2023.
