Don’t miss Movie in the Park at Eatons Hill
Published 1:00pm 19 July 2022
The first of 15 Movie in the Park evenings is on at Eatons Hill this weekend. It’s part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s new bumper community events program for 2022.
The Eatons Hill Movie in the Park, screening family favourite Encanto, is on Saturday, July 23 from 4.30-7.30pm at HT Ireland Park, Saraband Drive. The movie is expected to start at 5.30pm. Entry is free.
The event is being presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council, delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT).
Movie snacks will be available for sale before the movie and Eatons Hill Community Kindergarten will be cooking a sausage sizzle.
Bumper community events program
Mayor Peter Flannery says Council is delivering 43 free community events this financial year in partnership with MBRIT.
“We’ve heard loud and clear that locals want more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods, so we’re delivering,” Mayor Flannery says.
“There will be a Council-sponsored party somewhere in Moreton Bay almost every week, thanks to our new jam-packed events calendar.
“I encourage Eatons Hill locals to also get out and see some of the new gigs we’re launching like ‘Jazz and Shiraz’ in Newport, a ‘Pooches in the Park’ event in Kallangur and a Street Fair through Margate.”
Cr Cath Tonks (Div 9) says she’ll be at the Movie in the Park with bells on!
“Not just for the free movie but for the opportunity to bring our community together through a relaxing night under the stars,” she says.
|“I can’t promise the barbecue will have the healing powers of Julietta Madrigal’s magical arepas, but I know there’s nothing better than a night off from cooking for parents.|
“I’m so excited to be bringing our community back together through initiatives like this.
“The past two years have been difficult to plan and execute events which is why we’ve launched a full suite of events for the 2022-23 financial year. So come on down, bring your blankets and help us get this party started.”
MBRIT CEO and Founder Shane Newcombe says smaller community events in local parks are the perfect way to bring residents together in their own neighbourhoods.
“You can grab the kids, some chairs and blankets and walk to these events with your neighbours and friends,” Mr Newcombe says.
“They truly are community events and we can’t wait to roll out this program during the coming year.”
