Looking for low-cost or free activities to entertain the kids during the Easter school holidays on the Peninsula? Here’s a list to get you started.

Playful poetry wall

What: Express yourself with the Redcliffe Art Gallery’s playful poetry wall. Participants can use the words provided to turn their thoughts into poetic verses.

When: April 1-20, from 10am-4pm

Nature by night trail

What: Solve the mystery of Redcliffe Museum’s missing possum by following the trail of clues and letters to win a prize.

When: April 1-30, from 10am-4pm on weekdays and 10am-3pm on weekends

Messy play

What: Drop into the Redcliffe Library to play with kinetic sand, playdough, painting and craft. This activity is for children under five years old.

Meet a knight

What: Try on a knight’s armour and find out about jousting with some of The Abbey Museum team. Only children require tickets to this event.

Suitcase still life drawing

What: Find out what’s inside the Redcliffe Art Gallery’s vintage suitcase and participate in a still life drawing workshop. This workshop is suitable for beginners, with all materials provided.

Historical Exploratorium

What: Take a trip through history and explore what technological advances looked like through history with science experiments.

Clay pottery

What: In this workshop, use air-dry clay and learn how to make a pinch pot. This workshop is suitable for ages 6-10 years.

Playful abstractions painting workshop

What: This experimental art workshop teaches participants painting techniques using pastels, watercolours and salt on paper. They can draw inspiration from the art gallery’s current exhibition, Intimate Immensity.

PS5 Rocket League tournament

What: Redcliffe Library staff are facilitating a Rocket League tournament for children aged 12-17 years. Participants can play against each other to find the race car champion.

Blue-Bots silk road adventure

What: This event is suitable for children aged 6-8 years. Participants will decorate a Blue-Bot like a cart and take their wares to sell along ‘Silk Road.’ Watch out for sneaky bandits trying to take loot.

Minecraft museum

What: Load into a Minecraft world and build a replica of some of the artefacts from the Redcliffe Museum. Participants can book a spot to play at home or come into the library and use one of the library accounts and devices.
