Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to an incident taking place at Strathpine.

Shortly after 1.30am, police were called to a Peter St home in relation to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, they began negotiations with a man who was in the residence alone.

An emergency situation was declared just after 4am, with boundaries taking in Gertrude, Peter, Rowland and Cavendish streets.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.

Traffic diversions are in place
