Bring the family to the free Movie in the Park Morayfield East event on October 15 at Morayfield East State School.

It’s part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s bumper community events program for 2022.

The film, Clifford The Big Red Dog, will be screened at the event which is on from 5-8pm. The movie is expected to start about 6pm.

Movie in the Park Morayfield East is presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and supported by major sponsors Ausbuild and Moreton Daily.

Movie snacks will be available for sale before the movie and Morayfield East State School will be cooking a sausage sizzle.

There’s also free facepainting before the movie.

Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Mark Booth (Div 2) says he is looking forward to getting together with the community to watch the film.

“The new cinemas in Morayfield Shopping Centre are still a few months away so we are bringing a free outdoor cinema to you,” he says.

“Even better, Morayfield East State School will host a sausage sizzle plus popcorn and fairy floss will be on offer.

“We all loved Clifford’s books, now we get to see our favourite big red dog on the big screen.

“I’m proud to be part of a council so focussed on delivering free local events in neighbourhoods around our region, so families have easy access to low-cost fun close to home.

“Everyone in our community is welcome into the school grounds, so come on down and enjoy an outdoor screening under the stars.”

Big program of events

Mayor Peter Flannery says this is one of dozens of events being held this financial year, in direct response to calls from locals for more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods.

“We’ve heard you and we’re acting to deliver more great local events close to home, so it’s close to home and easy for local families,” he says.

“In the era of Netflix, I love the idea of locals heading out and coming together for a movie. It’s the closest this generation will get to a drive-in, I think.”

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Founder and CEO Shane Newcombe says smaller community events at local venues are the perfect way to bring residents together in their own neighbourhoods.

“You can grab the kids, some chairs and blankets and walk to these events with your neighbours and friends,” Mr Newcombe says.
