Entertainment centre closed by flood damage
Published 3:40pm 1 March 2022
REDCLIFFE Entertainment Centre has been forced to cancel shows featuring local performers after suffering extensive damage during days of torrential downpours.
The centre’s Facebook page says it will remain closed until further notice because of significant water damage.
“The venue has been inundated with water, which has damaged vital infrastructure (leaving) some areas unsafe to use, but the team are working extremely hard to rectify the situation as fast as possible so shows can continue,” a message on the page says.
“Council engineers have assessed the scale of the damage and works required to ensure the venue is safe for staff and patrons and several events have been impacted.
“Please appreciate it is hard to place an exact timeline on this but we’re hoping to be back underway within a few weeks.”
The centre’s website says Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra’s Festival Around the World performance scheduled for March 5 was cancelled, as has Redcliffe Musical Theatre’s lavish production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which was to have had eight shows from March 11-20.
Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra has rescheduled the concert for 2pm on Saturday, March 12, at the Clontarf Beach State High School hall.
