Finish in sight for $50m sport developments
Major sports developments, costing $50 million, are on track for completion across the Moreton Bay Region, starting from next month.
They range from the $22m South Pine Sports Complex High Performance Centre and football precinct at Brendale to $1.2m lighting upgrades in Talobilla Park, Kippa-Ring.
Work on the $5.4m Nolan Park BMX Precinct at Brendale is expected to finish next month, creating and international-standard facility.
Stage one of the $13m Griffin Sports Complex has been finished and designs for stage two are underway.
New changerooms costing around $1.8m could be completed at Rob Akers Reserve, Strathpine, for Pine Rivers Swans AFL by March.
Caboolture Rugby Union and Touch hope to have their huge new $6.5m clubhouse finished the following month.

'Brilliant job'
“Council’s project team have done a brilliant job just to get these projects near completion,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.
“This is despite some of the worst building conditions we’ve experienced in recent memory due to COVID-19, unprecedented rainfall, floods and labour and supply issues.
“We’re not the only council in this position and we expect delays to continue for a period of time, but I’m proud to say the following projects are expected to be delivered by next year.”
The biggest project is a state-of-the-art football precinct at South Pine Sports Complex for Brisbane Roar women’s teams, ACE and Moreton Bay United.
“This will be one of the best standalone, high performance sporting facilities for women in the country,” the mayor said.
“We’re on track to deliver the high-performance building and pitch in time for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia.”
Mayor Flannery said the developments have “financial assistance” from the State and Federal Governments.”
