Moreton Bay City Council continues to provide flood recovery support to residents affected by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

Since February 2, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services undertook 420 assessments of flood damaged properties in Moreton Bay; with 26 properties being counted as severe, 91 moderate and 91 minor.

Meanwhile, council crews recorded 89 assessments, with one severe, four minor and two moderately damaged properties.

Moreton Bay City Council has set up a Community Recovery Hub at Bray Park for residents experiencing hardship, where they can receive emotional support and help with grant funding.

Eligible residents can now apply for Personal Hardship Assistance grants of $180 for individuals and up to $900 for families of five, which help to cover the cost of essentials, including food, clothing and medicine.

Moreton Bay City Council is encouraging residents to submit a damage assessment report if their home or property was damaged in the recent floods, in order to assess what areas need the most support and funding.

Part of the flood recovery process is ensuring suburbs across Moreton Bay are protected from mosquitoes. Mosquito spraying has taken place in Rothwell, Clontarf, Kippa-Ring, Griffin, Mango Hill, Lawnton, Deception Bay, Uhlmann Rd, Burpengary East, Beachmere, Ningi, Donnybrook, Toorbul, Elimbah and Bribie Island.

There are waste and recycling facilities across the City of Moreton Bay that now offer free flood waste disposal.

Residents can also request a skip bin by calling Council on (07) 3205 0555 and reach out for assistance on the Queensland Government’s Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.

There is also a free legal helpline for advice and other services operated by Legal Aid Queensland, which residents can access by calling 1300 527 700.

The Bray Park Community Recovery Hub is at Encircle Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre, 865 Gympie Rd, Lawnton.
