The Comiskey Group’s Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel have cleaned up at this year’s Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence, taking out a total of eight awards.
The awards were presented during a gala ceremony at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday night.
Sandstone Point Hotel was named Hotel of the Year Metropolitan, Best Entertainment Venue, Best Entertainment Venue, Best Family Dining, Best Marketed Hotel Accommodation and Best Outdoor Non-Enclosed Facility.
Eatons Hill Hotel was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Best Entertainment Venue and won Best Meeting and Events Venue and Best Superior Accommodation.
Comiskey Group Director Robert Comiskey says the wins are a welcome boost and the night lifted the spirits of many in the industry.
“After more than a year of turmoil and losses felt by everyone particularly those in the hospitality industry, it was fantastic to come together as a team and as an industry to celebrate our resurgence,” he says.
“We cannot thank the Queensland Hotels Association Awards enough for putting on another great Awards for Excellence gala.
“It was an incredibly successful night for the Comiskey Group. We were shocked and overjoyed to come away with eight awards total. Most notably, Sandstone Point Hotel took out Metropolitan Overall Hotel of the Year which was not only a huge surprise but an honour.
“Eatons Hill Hotel was inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning Best Entertainment Venue three years in a row, and despite being up against such strong contenders, Eatons Hill Hotel also won Best Superior Accommodation which is an incredible achievement for the venue and for the team.”
Mr Comiskey says because Sandstone Point Hotel had won Best Outdoor Non-Enclosed Facility three years in a row, it too would be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year.
“The Comiskey family are honoured and grateful to be recognised in so many diverse areas of operation. These accolades are a credit to our amazing team, our success is their success,” he says.
“We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for the Comiskey Group - with so much more to come and an award-winning team behind us, the future is looking bright.”
