Man Walk Redcliffe rallies for Craig
Words by Nadia Chapman

Members of the The Man Walk Redcliffe group are rallying around their mate Craig Everett, who is battling terminal cancer - taking the walk to him.

On Thursday, October 12, the group walked to Craig’s home near Mon Komo, to say g’day when he couldn’t join members for their usual morning walk.

Redcliffe Manbassador Denis Brennan decided Craig’s cancer diagnosis wasn’t going to stop him from being part of the team.

“Craig can’t go out much anymore because of his pain; he has to stay in his unit most days,” Denis says.

“Craig’s wife was actually the one who came up with the idea to surprise him because he couldn’t join us, and we all thought it was a good idea.

“On our way back from Scotts Point, we all waited for him out the front of his unit and his wife brought him down to surprise him. He said he was really chuffed; ‘I’m chuffed,’ that’s the words he used.”

Craig has been a member of the Redcliffe Man Walk for three years and is a loved and valued friend of everyone in the group.

“It was lovely for him to see something before it all happens, you know?” Denis says.

“There were two new boys who joined us, and they even came around and introduced themselves to Craig.

“It’s a bloody good group of blokes. I had one member tell me ‘I’ve never seen a group of blokes that are so happy.’”

The Man Walk Redcliffe group comes together to walk, talk and support each other while they stride along the foreshore every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning.
