NAB to close Kippa-Ring branch

NAB has announced its branch at Kippa-Ring will close later this year.

The bank says the falling number of customers using its Boardman Rd branch lead to the decision to close on July 6.

Figures with the announcement show cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque deposits have fallen more than 40 per cent since 2020.

“Over the past few years, fewer customers are coming into branches to do their banking,” NAB Retail Customer Executive, Brisbane North Thomas Quinlan said.

No job losses

“Nearly 60 percent of our Kippa-Ring customers have only visited the branch once in the last 12 months and more than 73 percent are already using other branches.

“The Kippa-Ring team will now be helping customers who need additional support with digital banking and introducing them to the Bank@Post service at the Peninsula Fair Shopping Centre.

“It’s important to us that there will be no job losses as part of this change.

“Our branch team will be provided new opportunities across NAB including additional support in the NAB North Lakes branch.”

'Difficult decision'

NAB's Bank@Post partnership with Australia Post provides a face-to-face alternative and range of banking services at Australia Post outlets.

NAB said: “Closing a branch is always a difficult decision and we understand the change can be a big adjustment for some customers.

“Before the decision was made, we took a lot into consideration.”

The nearest NAB branch, at Westfield North Lakes, was refurbished earlier this year.
