Residents on Bribie Island have improved access to services such as Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support after today’s opening of a Services Australia Agent.

Bribie Island Neighbourhood Centre, at 9 Verdoni St, Bellara, has started delivering the face-to-face services after an expression of interest with Services Australia.

The service will be available Monday-Thursday noon-3pm and Fridays 8.30-11.30am. Though now open, staff training is being held this week.

Self-service

“People will be able to visit the Agent and use self-service equipment, scan, print and upload documents and receive advice on how to register for and use our digital services with confidence,” says Minister for Government Services Linda Reynolds.

“Increasingly people are conducting their business with us online and Agent staff receive extensive training to help the community access these digital self-service options.”

Massive difference

Federal Member for Longman Terry Young, who had been advocating for improved services, was delighted with the move.

“I’m so please that this service will be up and running on Monday,” Mr Young says. “Many people on the island have told me what a massive difference this service would mean.

“Bribie locals will be able to use the self-service equipment at the centre and get face-to-face information and support for a range of Centrelink, Medicare and other Government services.”
