Art will step out of galleries and into everyday public spaces across Moreton Bay when the city's first Outdoor Gallery launches in late 2026.
Funded through the Australian Government's Public Art Initiative under the South East Queensland City Deal, the 12-month exhibition will feature works by 18 artists exploring the theme Half a Million Imaginations.
The exhibition will “enliven public spaces and places” by showcasing artworks on billboards, light boxes and large-scale projections.
Where you'll find the artworks
North Lakes Library: Phoebe Paradise, Si Yi Shen, Lauren Edmonds, Man & Wah, Tamika Grant-Iramu and Prita Tina Yeganeh
Redcliffe Library: Claudio Kirac, Lana de Jager and Hayden Dewar
Caboolture Town Square: Jody Haines, Martin Edge and Chloe Bennett
Morayfield Sports and Events Centre: Darren Blackman and Manuel Moreno Guirao
South Pine Indoor Sports Complex: Dylan Bolger, Zoe Porter and Desirai Saunders
Pine Rivers Park: Bruce Ellem
Five of the selected artists are from the City of Moreton Bay, following an expression of interest process that attracted 79 submissions from across Australia.
Artists have already delivered community workshops attended by more than 575 people, with further workshops planned before the exhibition opens.
Mayor Peter Flannery said he couldn’t wait to see each project come to life.
“The Outdoor Gallery will enliven our public spaces and places, while providing opportunities for local and national artists to share their work with diverse audiences,” he said.
"I have no doubt the Outdoor Gallery will become a wonderful attraction for our City, and I look forward to the team delivering new exhibitions each year."
