A new $20 million shopping centre is being planned at Burpengary East.
The centre, on the corner of Buckley and Ulhmann Rds, will have a Woolworths supermarket with a drive-through ‘direct to boot’ service, 12 speciality stores and alfresco dining.
Also about 238 free car parks, a landscaped plaza and community meeting place, children’s play area, free Wifi and upgrades to the intersection.
Start date
A development application has been lodged with Moreton Bay Regional Council by Lancini Property Group for the Burpengary East Shopping Centre.
Construction would start in 2024 and finish in 2025, creating up to 240 jobs during the building phase and on completion.
Executive Chairman Laurence Lancini said servicing the current and future needs of the community was at the forefront of the proposed Burpengary East Shopping Centre.
Location key
“As growth occurs in Burpengary East, we believe a well-located Local Centre Precinct, with locals being able to do their weekly shop as part of their usual transit routes, or more particularly, without having to engage with the M1 at all, will be beneficial to many families,” Mr Lancini said.
“We also believe in leading the way to ensure retail services are really well located for the long term, so they do not encroach into more residential areas later.
“Ensuring we create something with the long term in mind is very important to us.”
Feedback
Lancini Property Group Development Manager Tomas Lancini said it was important the Centre provided locals with a welcoming shopping and dining experience where locals would be able to meet and socialise at a convenient location with other community and retail uses.
Lancini Property Group recently held Information Sessions for the local community to meet the project team and discuss their feedback and suggestions in relation to the proposed project.
