Police round-up: meat, handbags stolen
Words by Jodie Powell

Police are investigating the theft of meat from a North Lakes butcher shop.

Meat was stolen from the shop after hours on two occasions in March.

The first theft happened between 6pm and midnight on March 24, after a person entered the shop and took meat valued at $400.

The second occurred between 5pm on March 25 and 5am on March 26.

Police allege the same person returned to the butcher shop and stole meat worth $300.

They are keen to speak with the man pictured below, who they believe can help with the investigation.

Linked burglaries

Police are looking into a series of burglaries they believe to be linked that happened on April 1 in the Redcliffe area.

Two men were captured on CCTV footage at a unit complex in Marie Parade, Redcliffe between 12.20am and 12.45am on April 1.

Police believe the men followed a vehicle into the underground secured carpark before entering the foyer using the lift.

The same people were captured on CCTV cameras in the basement of a neighbouring unit complex about 2.35am on April 1.

A black Specialised Vita Elite disc brand 24-speed bicycle was stolen from the building.

It is alleged leather work tools were stolen from a resident’s garage space in the basement at the same complex.

It is unknown how the men gained entry to the basement carpark.

CCTV cameras recorded a man trying to enter a unit complex in Duffield Rd, Margate between 9.45pm and 10.10pm on April 1.

The footage showed the man trying to gain entry to the complex through a gymnasium door before jumping over a back fence into a neighbouring property.

Burpengary bag chase

A 17-year-old Bellbird Park boy and a 16-year-old Caboolture boy have been charged with unlawful entry to a premises after an incident at a Burpengary shopping centre on April 1.

A 36-year-old Burpengary woman had returned to her vehicle after shopping, when it is alleged the two youths opened the passenger door and took her handbag before fleeing.

The woman and other members of the public chased the boys, who allegedly discarded the bag.

Police were quick to respond, with POLAIR spotting the boys running towards a nearby train station.

The 17-year-old boy was also charged with wilful damage to a police vehicle, while the 16-year-old was charged with possession of a dangerous drug.

They are due to appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.

Headphone theft

Two men stole a set of headphones from a North Lakes electronic store about 1.42pm on March 30.

CCTV recorded the men opening a locked cabinet and removing headphones before leaving the shop.

Cars targeted

Three offences of unlawful entry to motor vehicles have been reported in the Caboolture area in recent days.

A handbag was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in Pondspice St between April 2 and April 3, while Queensland registration plate 274-YKU was taken from a vehicle parked in Riverview St between 11am on April 2 and 11.15am on April 3.

Thieves stole diesel from a truck at a premises on Boeing Place between 4.44am and 6.15am on April 2.

Break and enter

A power-assisted bike and serving trays were stolen from a Beachmere property on April 1.

A resident in Bishop Rd spotted a suspicious white dual cab utility, in poor condition, hanging around a shed on the property about 1pm.

The occupants of the vehicle are believed to have entered the shed, located through some gates and about 130m from the house, before stealing the Red Boy power-assisted bicycle and copper serving trays.

It is believed they forced the side door of the shed to gain entry.

The property owners were unable to reach the vehicle before it left.
