It’s business as usual at IGA Newport all Easter long weekend with the supermarket and its popular café open every day including public holidays.
The store, at Newport Marketplace, will be open from 6am to 9pm.
An IGA Newport spokesman says his friendly team will cater for shoppers’ grocery and gift needs.
The store has a good range of Easter confectionary and gifts to suit all members of the family from gourmet food lines to plants and homewares.
IGA Newport stocks a huge range of cheeses – up to 160-170 different varieties - which offers plenty of options for entertaining family and friends.
The store and its team of locals has been warmly welcomed by the community since first opening five months ago.
“There’s been an amazing response from the community, not just from Newport but from Scarborough, Redcliffe, Margate and Kippa-Ring,” the spokesman says.
“We have made a lot of changes as per the feedback from customers.”
He says customers have asked for more pork and gravy rolls and more meals in the hotbox.
They have also asked for almond croissants in the café, a bigger range of herbs in the produce department, and more homewares in the gift section. The team has implemented these suggestions.

The spokesman says the Easter long weekend is a good opportunity for shoppers to check out the store, if they have not yet popped in.
“Come and see the store for the first time. The majors will be closed,” he says.
“Trust us, tell us how we can improve. We will do whatever it takes to make them happy.
“It’s a unique store, we have amazing trading hours, we have a price-match promise … we are competitive but at the same time we are unique – we are not Coles and Woolies. We cater for everyone, so it’s not a typical supermarket.”
Come and meet the team: Store Manager Hayden, Produce Manager Amy, Café Manager Simon, Chef Fredrico in the café, Deli Manager Fionney, Home Décor and Flower manager Alison, Fresh Food Manager Kaitlyn and the 20 full-time and 40 casual/part-time staff.
IGA Newport is at Newport Marketplace, Lakeview Promenade, Newport.
