Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day hit new heights with record-breaking donations to help patients and their families.

More than $225,000 was raised on Thursday - the largest sum in six years of the fundraiser, which has now generated more than $1.2 million for 80 hospital projects.

Money raised this year will support the refurbishment of single rooms and ensuites in Redcliffe Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, raising comfort, dignity and connection.

“It shows what is possible when a community comes together with heart and purpose,” Sharyn Tidswell, Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Manager, said.

“Every donation, large or small, contributes to projects that raise comfort and wellbeing for local patients and their families.”

There was a Raise it for Ray tribute, honouring the late Ray Kerr, former 99.7 Bridge FM station manager and hospital advocate, with his daughters Morelle and Tara on site.

The first Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Philanthropic Leadership Award was presented posthumously to Ray, recognising his vision, leadership and commitment.

“He helped establish the Giving Day radiothon and brought live radio broadcasting to the hospital, creating a platform for storytelling, engagement and giving,” Ms Tidswell said.

99.7 Bridge FM announcer Big Jon said: “Broadcasting live from the hospital surrounded by his family and community …. felt like Ray was with us.”
