Roads closed, SES call outs - how rain impacted region

Moreton Bay’s SES volunteers have, at the time of publication, received more than 100 calls for help during the heavy rain of the last two days.

Most were for water inundation (106), such as leaking roofs, as sandbagging (34) in suburbs the length and breadth of the region.

Figures earlier today showed “tasks received” since midnight May 11 from Caboolture 42, Redcliffe 20, Petrie 17, Deception Bay 15, Arana Hills and Bribie Island 6, Woodford 4.

“There was a large volume of calls early yesterday from the Caboolture area,” Moreton Bay SES Local Controller Sean Harrop said.

“Then in the afternoon from the Petrie, Strathpine and Redcliffe.”

Redlands SES sent four teams to the Moreton Bay Region to help and calls were still “trickling in” today, Mr Harrop said.

Forecasts suggest the rain will ease in the next few days.

Roads closed

Roads across the Moreton Bay Region are still being impacted by this morning’s rain with many now closed.

• Take caution when crossing any storm water on roadways
• Do not attempt to traverse creeks and other crossings that are clearly under water
• Be aware that potholes may form during periods of high rainfall.
