Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise is sponsoring a Deception Bay State High School Year 12 student so she can attend the next Rotary Youth Transition Seminar (RYTS) camp in December.

Kailee Richardson successfully applied to take part in the RYTS camp from December 10-16 at the Lion’s Camp Duckadang in Kilcoy.

The seven-day program is offered by Rotary District 9620 and aims to help young people transition from one area of study into the next phase of life.

Deception Bay High School principal Barry Wallett says Kailee applied after hearing about RYTS at the school’s assembly.

Kailee is an exemplary student and is looking forward to the challenges after graduating from school at the end of 2023.

She is currently the school’s STEM ambassador and is planning to commence her bachelor’s degree in design in 2024.

RYTS provides participants with practical skills and knowledge for life after school, such as financial management, career planning, communication, teamwork, personal growth and leadership skills.

The camp provides inspiring guest speakers and mentors who share their stories and insights on leadership, entrepreneurship, social justice, health, wellness and more.

RYTS is a unique opportunity for participants to discover their strengths, passions and potential, especially as participants engage in activities for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, such as hiking, camping, yoga, meditation and community service.

Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise sponsors many youth programs for students in primary school to high school education and beyond.
