The Mill Playground in Petrie now has more protection from the sun thanks to shade structure upgrades.
“As our community grows, so does the demand for safe and comfortable recreational areas,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.
“Which is why we’ve invested in sun safety through additional shade structures over the play area at The Mill.
“These new shade sails not only make the space cooler but also create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for kids to play and for parents and carers to relax and watch.”
The Mill splash park and playground has become popular with its barbecue, picnic, and play facilities.
Councillor Jim Moloney (Div 8) said the new upgrades were driven by community feedback.
“We saw an opportunity to improve the experience by installing more shade sails, particularly over the flying fox and adventure play swing areas,” he said.
“Whether it’s a warm winter afternoon or a sunny summer day, families can extend their weekend quality time at the playground with greater peace of mind about sun safety.”
