SHOW TIME: Caboolture Show gets underway with three big days of fun
Published 3:20pm 3 June 2022
The much-loved Caboolture Show has kicked off today, bringing three big days of fun and entertainment for families and visitors to enjoy.
The gates to the showgrounds opened early this morning with plenty of people walking through the gates keen to ride the rides, chow down a few Dagwood Dogs, purchase their favourite showbags, cheer on the woodchoppers and cuddle the adorable farmyard animals.
The show boasts a full itinerary over the next few days, meaning there is plenty to see and do for children, adults, and of course, the young at heart.
Tonight’s festivities in the main oval are sure to be a big crowd pleaser, with the grand opening beginning at 6pm. This will feature the Nickelodeon parade, monster trucks, fireworks and more.
Clive Featherby, head of Operations at KC’s Fireworks Displays, will play a big hand in ensuring the crowd hads plenty of “wow” moments throughout the evening.
His monster truck Outback Thunda will take to the arena tonight, as well as many of his other vehicles including jet cars.
He has also planned a spectacular fireworks display to light up the night sky.
“I personally do over 100 shows a year, which I love doing,” Clive said.
“I do shows all over the world, including America and Abu Dhabi, but this weekend I am at the Caboolture Show, and then I will be travelling around to other shows across Queensland including Nambour, Bowen and Ingham.
“When we are at the shows, we focus on planning things the kids will love.
“Tonight, during the grand parade, we will bring out all the vehicles for people to have a look at, and then Outback Thunda will come back and we will give two lucky kids who scream the loudest the chance to go for a quick ride.
“After that we will do some big jumps, which the crowd always loves.”
At the conclusion of the night, Clive will also set off thousands of colourful fireworks.
“We also have lasers, flames, spark machines, and it’s all done to music.”
Clive is hoping plenty of families from across the region, as well as visitors from nearby Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, will come along for a weekend of fun, entertainment, food, laughs, thrills and spills.
“I hope everyone will come on down and enjoy everything the show has to offer. The Caboolture Show is one of the biggest regional entertainment programs, so there will be plenty of new things for families to see and experience, as well as plenty of family favourites like Outback Thunda,” he said.
One-of-a-kind truck
Outback Thunda originated in the year 2003 following two years of being a Bronco Horse for the Brisbane Broncos.
At its birth in the year 2000, this horse shaped body was known as Bronco Magic and was a very dark brown colour.
This truck is one of the few race trucks to have three seats, the driver and two passengers, giving people a unique experience of being a passenger.
When it came to naming the truck, Clive wanted to ensure it had a real Aussie feel to it.
“We were one of the first Australians to take monster trucks to America, so I wanted to have a name that was really original,” he said.
“I was thinking about the outback and the thunder we get from the storms, so the name came to be Outback Thunda.”
Clive said he does anywhere between 60-70 monster truck shows a year.
