Stage set for dream US tour

Twenty-one young dancers from Moreton Bay will jet out later this month for a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.

The troupe, from JAM Performing Arts at North Lakes, are heading to the US on a three-week tour of performing, training and sightseeing.

Aged from 10-18, the dancers will take part in workshops at venues such as the Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles and Broadway Dance Centre, New York.

They will also perform at Disney World Florida, Universal Studios Florida and go to the Velocity Dance Convention in Las Vegas.

“They’re a passionate, hardworking group who’ve been preparing for this opportunity for over a year,” Michael Edge, Creative Director of JAM Performing Arts, said.

“This tour gives dancers a chance to train with world-renowned choreographers, perform on international stages and immerse in the professional dance industry.

“It’s also a personal growth journey – building independence, resilience, and confidence through shared travel and cultural experiences.”

The tour, from June 29 to July 1, will be the third by Jam Performing Arts to America giving dancers an insight into the American dance scene and culture.

“Each trip has offered unique opportunities for our students to grow and challenge themselves,” Michael said.

“This experience could open doors to future opportunities in performing arts – from full-time training and scholarships to auditions and international networking.

“It also nurtures their confidence and motivation to pursue their dreams at the highest level.”

JAM started in North Lakes in 2007 and its Flinders Parade centre has four studios for students from the age of two to senior and pre-professionals.
