Caboolture Man Walk is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone this month.
The group, which averages 12-15 men at each gathering, is set to chalk up its 400th walk on Friday June 27.
Councillor Adam Hain will join the landmark Caboolture Man Walk , which will start in Central Lakes and return for a sausage sizzle breakfast.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan has made a donation towards the breakfast as he is unable to attend the celebration.
The mental health initiative, in its eighth year, is free and for men of all ages and backgrounds - just turn up. Join the Facebook page as well.
It is designed to strengthen communities and combat social isolation by getting men together each week to walk, talk and support one another.
Stephen Pooler, who is the co-ordinator of the Beachmere and Caboolture Man Walks, says there has been a lot of interest from the community.
“When people see us out walking, they always say hello and ask us lots of questions about the group and how they can join,” he said.
“I always tell them it’s free and all they need to do is just turn up.
“There’s no judgment, no pressure or expectations – just come along and meet some new friends and have a chat and a coffee afterwards.”
Caboolture Man Walk meets every Monday and Friday, 6.30am, at The Coffee Club in Central Lakes Shopping Centre, McKean Street.
Beachmere Man Walk, which will reach 100 outings on October 1, is every Wednesday 6.30am at the Silver Spoon, 19 Biggs Ave, Beachmere.
The first Man Walk was in 2018 at Kiama, New South Wales and has since grown to around 100 in Australia and some overseas.
Five Man Walks operate in Moreton Bay: Beachmere, Caboolture, Narangba, Newport and Redcliffe.
