The community, including tradies and home DIY customers have embraced the Sunshine Mitre 10 superstore since it opened about eight months ago at North Lakes. Those who have not yet checked it out are encouraged to take a look.
Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager Neil Hutchins says his team is proud to be part of one of the fastest-growing areas in Queensland.
More than two years before the store opened, the Sunshine Mitre 10 team recognised the potential of the North Lakes location and Neil is mighty pleased with the results so far.
“We recognised early that North Lakes would be a great location for another store in our network, which now includes over 20 locations throughout Queensland, from Weipa in the north, to St George in the west, and south to Brisbane,” Neil says.
“Moreton Bay is recognised as one of the fastest growing regions in Australia with a population of over 490,000 people and predictions of up to 30 per cent more over the next decade.”
Sunshine Mitre 10 is at 49 Stapylton St, in the heart of the North Lakes retail precinct, just a couple of hundred metres away from Ikea and the Westfield shopping centre and is easy to get to from the Bruce Highway.
“That makes it super easy for our customers to get in, get out and get on with it, especially with our great Trade Drive-Thru,” Neil says.
What’s on offer
The Sunshine Mitre 10 store at North Lakes is more than 8400sqm, with more than 3400sqm under roof. It is open from 6am-6pm weekdays, 7am-5pm Saturday and 8am-4pm Sunday.
The store stocks big-name brands such as Weber, Stihl and Adventure Kings outdoor gear.
It has dedicated departments including building and hardware, homewares, lighting and electrical, hand and power tools, kitchen, painting and decorating, outdoor living, a large garden centre, appliances and plumbing as well as dedicated trade products and services and the well-managed Trade Drive Thru experience Mitre 10 is known for.
There are even free ‘Tradie Barbecue Brekkies’ on the last Friday of every month.
Neil says the Sunshine Mitre 10 team is also getting involved in the local community, not just by employing locals but also through community and sporting sponsorship.
"What is now Sunshine Mitre 10 was started by the Lanham family on the Sunshine Coast more than 110 years ago. Being a part of and supporting the communities in which we operate is really important to us,” he says.
“That’s why in North Lakes we have already created sponsorship partnerships with North Lakes Leopards Rugby Union, Hammerichs Coffee and various local schools and retirement villages.
“We are pleased with how the store has gone so far and look forward to seeing further growth, alongside the community and local economy.”
