Tempest is for lovers this long weekend

Open across the entire long weekend, Tempest Restaurant is serving up everything from relaxed lunches to lazy dinners with a cocktail or two making it the perfect spot to make the most of the extra days off.

From anniversaries and engagement dinners to milestone birthdays, the waterfront venue has built a reputation as a place people book when the occasion matters. Earlier this year, the team launched a cheeky campaign titled Tempest is for Lovers in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day. Months on, the message continues across 2026.

Restaurant Manager Bec Fontaine, said the campaign reflects the personality behind the restaurant.

“It’s meant to be fun,” she said.

“Yes, we’re known for quality seafood, great steaks and those incredible waterfront views, but we’ve always had a laidback coastal vibe. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

While it began around Valentine’s Day, the idea extends well beyond one date.

“Tempest is for lovers. Lovers of seafood. Lovers of good food. Lovers of quality service. Lovers of the view. And people who love celebrating the big moments in life.”

The menu remains central to that reputation. Tempest is known for its premium seafood offering, from fresh oysters and local prawns to signature platters designed for sharing. Quality steaks also feature prominently, supported by a carefully curated wine list.

“For a lot of people, it starts with the seafood,” Bec said. “Oysters, prawns, a platter to share. But we also have guests who come specifically for the steaks. We want there to be something that feels special, whatever the occasion.”

The setting at Scarborough Harbour adds another layer to the experience. Multiple dining spaces cater to intimate tables, larger celebrations and private functions, while sweeping waterfront views remain a constant backdrop.

“We’re big enough to host those milestone events, but we still want it to feel personal,” Bec said.

“People remember how a place made them feel.”

That combination of consistency, quality and warmth has helped Tempest remain a destination venue year after year.

Tempest Restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner at Scarborough Harbour.
