The Dolphins’ 2025 season has been characterised by the players who have stood up in the face of adversity, ensuring the club’s upwards trajectory.
Four of them have been honoured at tonight’s Presentation Ball at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Superstar centre Herbie Farnworth took out the Arthur Beetson Medal for Player of the Year as well as the Wahl Fan MVP award.
It follows a year in which he was in career-best form before a hamstring tear in round 22 ended his season.
The 25-year-old, in just his second year with the club, scored 12 tries in 19 appearances for the Dolphins this season and has been credited with nine try assists 117 tackle breaks, 17 line breaks and 282 tackles made with 94 per cent efficiency.
Add to this, 3237 total running metres, with an average of 170 running metres.
Just last month, Head Coach Kristian Woolf said: “Herbie’s a terrific player, he’s certainly one of our best and one of our highest profile for that reason”.
Utility Kurt Donoghoe, 23, who had a breakout year just when his side needed it the most, won the awards for Best Forward and Most Consistent.
He’s another one who has earnt the respect of his coach this season, even playing on after his nose was broken during the Dolphins’ round 12 thrashing of the Bulldogs.
He has emerged as a genuine hardman and has been compared to teammate Ray Stone, with many saying they are cut from the same cloth.
Halfback Isaiya Katoa took home two awards – Best Back and the Jesse Bromwich Award for Players’ Player.
The 21-year-old has earnt praise from some of the game’s legends this season for his calm and inspiring play, and special skill.
He is a natural leader who has stepped up as Captain and Co-Captain in the absence of Tom Gilbert and Felise Kaufusi. The award reflects the respect his teammates’ have for him as a player and leader.
Young winger Tevita Naufahu took home the Rookie of the Year award, while Sean O’Sullivan won the Education Award.
Sam Tagataese, from the Education and Wellbeing Team won Club Person of the Year.
