Volunteers share passion for Moreton Bay

The City of Moreton Bay’s dedicated team of tourism and event volunteers has been recognised during National Volunteer Week.

The week, from May 19-25, shines a light on the impact of volunteering in bringing people together and strengthening the fabric of Australian society.

A focus of this year's celebration in the Moreton Bay Region has been the contributions of tourism and event volunteers, some of whom celebrated service milestones of five, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years.

Their dedication underpins a vibrant sector, enhancing visitor experiences and local events.

The statistics from the past 12 months alone highlight the incredible commitment of these volunteers:

• More than 200 active tourism and event volunteers have been tirelessly contributing their time and energy.
• Cumulatively, these volunteers have dedicated more than 30,000 hours across about 60 events, five visitor centres, and a growing number of walking tours.
• Their efforts have directly benefited a substantial number of individuals, with more than 35,000 visitors welcomed at visitor centres and 80,000 attendees at events.
• The popularity of free walking tours, now offered by volunteers in picturesque locations such as Redcliffe, Samford, Woodford, and Bribie, continues to grow, with more than 1000 visitors enjoying walks this year.
