Who’s Who in 22, Tourism: Jason Brown

G’Day Adventure Tours Founder and Managing Director Jason Brown has weathered the COVID-19 storm in 2022 by diversifying and collaborating with other operators to offer local and international tourists something special.

Jason not only runs the business but is its expert tour guide, with a down-to-earth, fun and friendly, young Aussie bloke approach.

He also offers expert knowledge that only a local has, being raised on Bribie Island and living there most of his life.

G’day Adventure Tours is a fully guided tour company that operates throughout South East Queensland, including on one of the world’s largest sand islands – Bribie Island.

It also offers tours on Moreton Island and in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The Bribie Island tours are a chance to get close to Australian wildlife or take a swim in the tea tree-stained lagoons. There are a number of tours to choose from. They run daily.

The business has been running since May 2016 and has experienced numerous challenges including a drop in tourist numbers during the 2019 summer weather-related crises, including a 2-week shut down of Bribie Island National Park, due to bushfires.

Jason was optimistic that things would get better after the fire season and was on the verge of getting a shopfront for his business when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

His customers were mainly international and interstate tourists, so it was tough going when borders and national parks were closed in 2020. Incoming international tourism stopped, state borders were locked down and all national parks were closed until mid-June 2020.

Domestic tourists slowed to just a trickle of Queenslanders.

Jason started looking into options to diversify and get ready for when restrictions eased. He began collaborating with other tour operators to combine tourism business offerings and support each other.

As soon as the national parks opened, he spent three days filming the tour offerings of Bribie island, which he uploaded to YouTube. This sparked plenty of interest, with 4100 views in the first 55 days.

With domestic and international borders open again in 2022, Jason has continued to ramp up his business in the lead-up to the peak summer holiday season.

G’Day Adventure Tours remains one of the Moreton Bay Region’s top tourism experiences, giving locals and visitors unique and welcoming tours to remember. It is also listed on the Tourism and Events Queensland website, cementing its place as a valued South East Queensland experience.
