A Kallangur woman struggled to convince her husband they won a monumental $1.4 million in the Saturday Gold Lotto - despite confirmation from lottery officials.
The Moreton Bay resident held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4315. Each entry took home $1,428,571.43.
“Oh my god. I can’t believe it!” the woman said, when contacted by The Lott. “I found out on Sunday morning and I woke my husband up in hysteria!
“He turned to me and said, ‘No way! This is a scam! It’s not possible for us to win $1.4 million!’. To this day, he is still struggling to believe the winning news.
Winning routine
“It’s my weekly routine to buy a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket and an Instant Scratch-Its ticket with my groceries. Funnily enough, my husband always says to me, ‘You better bring home a winner!’
“There’s no doubt he’ll believe the winning news once it hits the bank account. You have no idea how life-changing this is for us. It’s mind-blowing.
“I’ve been playing on and off my entire life, but mainly the last 12 months. I’m still in shock!”
With $1.4 million about to boost their bank account before Christmas, the Queenslander said it would go towards a new home.
Family home
“We would love to purchase a family home!” she exclaimed. “It’s going to be a great Christmas too!”
Her winning 12-game QuickPick was bought at News Extra Lillybrook in Lilly Brook Shopping Centre on Old Gympie Road.
The winning numbers were 31, 14, 29, 12, 45 and 22. The supplementary numbers 36 and 11.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries – two each in New South Wales and Victoria and one in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
400 up
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 400 so far this calendar year, including 93 won by Golden Casket customers.
In FY22, Saturday Gold Lotto created 196 millionaires across Australia.
There are more chances to win big with tomorrow’s Oz Lotto offering $20 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has $8 million up for grabs.
Tonight’s Set for Life draw offers players the chance to win a division one prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years – that’s $20K on Replay! Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
