How would you like to have a delicious meal cooked for you by one of Australia’s most-loved chefs?
Moreton Bay’s very own celebrity chef Alastair McLeod, who is well-known for his appearances on Ready Steady Cook and Queensland Weekender, will be cooking up a storm as part of this year’s Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival, which runs from August 19 to September 25.
The team behind the Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival is giving foodies the chance to choose one of three ultimate feastival experiences with Alastair.
Here are the three lucky prizes up for grabs:
Bribie Seafood Boil Weekend Experience
From the banks of the Mississippi to the foreshore of Pumicestone passage, Alastair will host the first-ever Bribie Seafood Boil on Father’s Day (Sunday, September 4).
A long communal table will be set up at Brennan Park to celebrate communal dining and the region’s freshest seafood.
Alastair promises a ‘cracking, sucking, and slurping’ good time as diners dig into fresh tiger prawns, sand crab, Moreton Bay bugs and mussels.
They will start off with a shellfish broth, followed by the main event presented directly from the pot to the table, served with bottomless fries, assorted sauces, lemons and pickled local vegetables.
The prize includes two tickets to the Bribie Seafood Broil plus overnight accommodation at On the Bay Apartments at Bribie Island.
Samford Harvest Weekend Experience
The Samford Harvest (winter) event is a celebration of local produce grown in the Samford Valley and the surrounding region, and will be held on Friday, August 26.
Guests are invited to share a table and enjoy a meal in an idyllic barn located at Loop Growers, just a few minutes from Samford Village.
The menu is thoughtfully created and produced Alastair, who is a Samford local.
Some of the tasty menu items include seared eye fillet of beef with horseradish and crispy rosti, slow-cooked salmon with zucchini, snow peas and bauplenut salad, as well as white chocolate parfait with gin and honey roasted strawberries.
The prize includes two tickets to the Samford Harvest, plus overnight accommodation at the Eatons Hill Hotel.
Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival Weekend
Alastair will be hosting a unique dining experience onsite at Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival on Saturday, August 20.
He has prepared a three-course menu using the region’s finest seasonal local produce, which will be enjoyed as a long-table communal dining experience.
He will be accompanied by local producers who will share their stories and the origins of the produce found on diners’ plates.
Some of the delicious menu items include hot smoked spanner crab brandade with crispy roots, native lime and sea flora, twice cooked sirloin of beef with heritage vegetables and caramelised pumpkin jus, as well as white chocolate parfait with honey and lemon myrtle gin roasted strawberries.
The prize includes two tickets to the three-course dining experience (plus entry to the Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival) and two nights’ accommodation at Sebel Margate Beach.
