School zone fail ... woman allegedly breaks four laws

School zone road safety is not off to a great start in the Moreton police district with a woman allegedly caught breaking the law not once, but four times on one morning.

Officers from Moreton North Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement in a school zone at a Morayfield school about 8.15am on January 28, when they detected a vehicle travelling at 54 km/h in the signed 40 km/h zone.

When the driver was stopped, police allegedly observed the female driver was not wearing her seat belt. It is alleged that she was also viewing a video on a mobile phone.

The woman also allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis during a roadside drug test.

A 33-year-old female from Morayfield was issued with three traffic infringement notices totalling $2901 and 11 demerit points. She was also charged with drug driving and is expected to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on March 24.

Police are urging motorists to slow down in school zones and look out for the unexpected as drivers and children adjust to being back at school.
