Good news for Caboolture drivers – design and planning work has started ahead of the $4.2 million upgrade of the Pumicestone Rd and Dances Rd intersection.

Funding was agreed last year by the state government for the intersection which regularly figures as one of Queensland’s worst hotspots for accidents.

State Member for Pumicestone Ali King has confirmed work has begun to fix the black spot.

“The need for an upgrade of the Dances Rd and Pumicestone Rd intersection has often been raised with me, so I’m really pleased to see design work underway,” she said.

“I want locals to get home sooner and safer and this key upgrade will make a big difference for safety and congestion.”

Turning lanes

The upgraded intersection will have signalised turning lanes onto the D’Aguliar Highway, a signalised pedestrian crossing and wider roads for pedestrians and cyclists.

“It’s a busy spot and the upgrades are much needed to reduce the chance of crashes and to keep people safe as they head to Caboolture Station” Ms King said.

“I’ll be working hard with Transport and Main Roads to keep the community updated as the design and planning progress and construction begins.”

This project comes under the Targeted Road Safety Program and is one of a number of upgrades to roads across Pumicestone.
