Work started today on the construction of a new hospital in Caboolture.
The first sod was turned at 15 Rowe St on the Caboolture Satellite Hospital, which is due for competition in 2023.
State Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said satellite hospitals would deliver improved healthcare services in growing communities.
“We are building these satellite hospitals to support growing communities with the health infrastructure they need,” Minister D’Ath said.
Growing demand
“Our program is an Australian first that will improve healthcare, supporting jobs in construction and health jobs when they’re open.”
Satellite Hospitals will also be built at Eight Mile Plains, Redlands, Ripley, Kallangur, Tugun and Bribie Island.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the new health facilities and additional services would be a welcome addition to the community.
Mr Ryan said the construction program would “support growing demand in our community”.
100 jobs
“It’s great news that more than 100 local jobs will be supported during the construction phase too,” Mr Ryan added.
State Member for Pumicestone Ali King said the official start of construction was an important milestone for Caboolture.
“Our new satellite hospital will increase the capacity of our health system and strengthen the economy by creating construction and health jobs,” Ms King said.
“Pumicestone has an ageing population, and so it’s really important that we find new and better ways to get people health services close to home and when they need them most.”
