The numbers all added up on Friday as Redcliffe and Narangba Valley State High School maths students rose to the challenge.
Narangba Valley’s annual four-round mathematics tournament saw Redcliffe win three categories - including overall champions - and a third place.
Hosts Narangba Valley won the fourth category and also had second and third place finishes.
The event attracted around 400 students from Years 7-12 at 26 schools in the Metro North region for a series of fast-paced tests.
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) also entered the senior divisions alongside Year 11-12 students.
The competition included an individual challenge by QUT Professor Michael Bode and an industry challenge on airport logistics and efficient flight scheduling from Ben Murphy of Murphy Stone Analytics.
There was also a timed team test consisting of 15 questions and an intense 45-minute relay challenge.

Year 7-8: 1 Redcliffe State High School; 2 St Benedicts College, Mango Hill; 2 St Columbans College, Caboolture
Years 9-10: 1 Narangba Valley State High School; 2 The Lakes College, North Lakes; 3 Redcliffe State High School

“Events such as these celebrate excellence in mathematics, inspire intellectual curiosity and encourage our most talented young mathematicians to challenge themselves alongside like-minded peers.”
Organisers thanked Murphy Stone Analytics, State Member for Kurwongbah Shane King, Narangba Valley SHS P&C and the Mathematics Team at Narangba Valley SHS for their time, expertise, resources and prizes.
