The snap COVID-19 lockdown has hit many businesses hard across the Moreton Bay Region. Let’s do what this community does best – support each other. It's time to be #MoretonBayTough once again. Here’s how you can help.

Grab takeaway from your favourite café/restaurant

Many cafes and restaurants worked quickly to switch over to takeaway across the weekend and are offering deals and gourmet boxes to take home and enjoy.

Here’s a list of the venues we know about but if your local isn’t listed, give them a call or reach out on social media to find out how you can support them.

Do your bit to help small business

Support a Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival Vendor

The snap lockdown meant the Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival had to be cancelled just minutes after opening.

This had a direct impact on producers, wineries, breweries, food trucks, performers and others who had bought stock, prepared and grown food and committed to make the event the biggest and best the region had ever seen.

The organiser, (not-for-profit) Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism, has created a website with links to all those businesses affected in a bid to rally the community to help. Find it here

Shop online

Many businesses have closed in line with the lockdown requirements and will not open until at least next Sunday and while their front doors might be closed, they may still be open for business online.

Jump onto their website and Facebook page and see what services and products are still available – many are offering contactless pick-up or delivery.

If you’re able to, stock up on a few items or buy for family and friends.

Make a recommendation

We know lockdowns don’t last forever and when businesses reopen, they will need as much support as they can get.

If you know a local business that offers outstanding service and products, use the power of social media to give them a plug.

Post a photo and recommendation and tag the business, so your friends/followers can find the business easily and support it, when it reopens.

Have you been to an amazing local accommodation provider for a staycation or enjoyed a tourism experience in the region? Post a photo from your stay or experience, a recommendation and tag the business. You might just prompt a booking or two.

Pay it forward

Many people are struggling with the latest lockdown, so if you have the means to buy a coffee or takeaway meal for the next person in line you’ll not only give them a boost but make the businessowner or staff member serving you feel good. It’s a genuine ripple-effect!

Often these gestures are recounted on social media, so that feel-good vibe goes much further. It happened heaps during the last lockdown and we know some of you are already at it again.

Let’s be #MoretonBayTough together
