White Patch road and water update: March 1
Words by Jodie Powell

Food and supplies, including medical items, are getting through to residents at White Patch on Bribie Island after they were cut off when a section of the esplanade was washed away in torrential rain.

Moreton Bay Regional Council, Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) and Unitywater have been working to restore access, reconnect water and deliver supplies to those stranded.

A Council spokesperson says there have been no emergency issues since the road was cut and residents who need emergency food or medicine will receive them tonight thanks to VMR.

With Unitywater working to reconnect water and a staff member on Bribie Island today and tomorrow to answer questions, more water will be delivered to White Patch in the morning if needed.

Work has already started to rebuilt the main road, although until it is safe a temporary inland track has been created – but is only for use by emergency and construction crews.

Council has also been working with a woman desperate to leave the area to holiday with her daughter who is visiting from the UK, and has put her in touch with VMR to organise transport for them and her dogs.

Residents will receive updates via a letterbox drop to ensure everyone is aware of the progress being made.
